Community Information

Medical Facilities/Physicians: The closest physician’s office is located in Mill City, 20 miles west of Detroit. The closest hospital is located in Stayton, 40 miles west of Detroit. Specialized care can be handled at a larger hospital in Salem, about 55 miles to the west.

Fire Department:  The City of Detroit is served by the Idanha-Detroit Rural Fire Protection District.  503-854-3540

Police:  Detroit is under the jurisdiction of the Marion County Sheriff’s Department for police services. 503-588-5032.

Septic/Sewer:  The City of Detroit does not provide a sewer system at this time. Property owners are responsible to maintain a Marion County approved septic system. To learn about the possibility of a sewer system in the foreseeable future, visit https://www.northsantiamsewer.net/ .

Water:  The City of Detroit Water System used slow sand filtration technology to serve the city. Click below to view our 2021 Annual Drinking Water Quality Report, based on the data from 2020. The Report is produced every year with current data, and is due to the residents by June 30.
