- City Rules and regulations can be confusing. For your convenience, below is a summary of recently added Ordinances and/or established regulations. Please click here to read the full text to these or any other ordinances.
ORD 241 – FIREWORKS. Allows the use of legal fireworks from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM June 23rd through July 4th, and the day of the Fireworks Over The Lake from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM and on New Year’s from 11:00 PM December 31st to 12:30 AM January 1st. However, fireworks may be restricted due to extreme weather conditions. Fine: $500 per incident per day; double for repeat offenders.
ORD 236 – ATVs. Allows the use of Class I and Class IV All-Terrain Vehicles on certain streets located within city boundaries. This Ordinance does NOT allow recreational riding on city streets but rather allows a person to get from point A to point B in an easy, cost-effective manner. Crossing Highway 22 is not allowed per State laws. Fine: $250 per incident per day.
ORD 213 – NUISANCE ORDINANCE. This Ordinance regulates everyday occurrences such as nuisances affecting public health, nuisances affecting public safety, attractive nuisances (a potentially harmful object so inviting or interesting to a child that it would lure the child onto a property to investigate and that injury was foreseeable), debris, noise disturbance, and much more. A few highlights:
- It shall be unlawful for any person knowingly to create, assist in creating, permit, continue or permit the continuance of any noise disturbance with a sound producing device that is plainly audible at any time between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am the following day.
- a) within a dwelling unit which is not the source of the sound; or
- b) on a public right of way at a distance of 50 feet or more from the source of the sound.
- No person shall discharge firearms within the city limits. For the purpose of this section, high velocity air rifles and pistols, and high-pressure pneumatic guns of all types, are also classed as firearms
- Any open vault or privy is prohibited. Chemical toilets used in connection with construction projects are allowed only if required by the Oregon State Board of Health regulations. The use of chemical toilets on private residential property is prohibited, unless approved by City Council for short-term use. The use of chemical toilets on commercial property must have city approval..
- No person shall deposit trash, rubbish, debris, or refuse, which was generated from a residence or business, into public trash receptacles within the city. Fine: $250 per incident per day.
