The City of Detroit received funding from the Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD) to complete a development code audit & update. The City’s Development Code, which you can find by clicking HERE, regulates development within City limits by classifying zones and permitted uses, standards for development, and other regulations and procedures.
The proposed code changes and Planning Commission Staff report from 4-18-2023 are available HERE.
The first phase of this work involves a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC, which consists of the Detroit Planning Commission) meeting and reviewing the current code language for potential amendments and updates. With professional help and direction from the Mid
Willamette Valley Council of Governments, recommendations will be made and brought to Council for discussion and review. After the first review and suggested edits are in place, the City will hold public hearings to review and potentially adopt new code language. The audit process is anticipated to progress over about 12 months.
