The Detroit Lake Fishing Derby 2024
was held on May 17-19, 2024.
Every year, the Detroit Lake Fishing Derby is a greatly anticipated, exciting weekend event for the whole family, hosted by DLRABA (Detroit Lake Recreation Area Business Association). The Derby takes place in the center of our beautiful Cascade Mountain village Sunday afternoon after two days of dedicated fishing. The Lake is stocked with thousands of rainbow trout raised by the local hatcheries. Ten of the fish are tagged for cash prizes. It is a fantastic adventure for children and elders alike, and a wonderful time to cast your reel for a chance to win from hundreds of great prizes. The grand prize is a stunning Smokercraft Fishing Boat & Trailer! Additional prizes are awarded for ‘Largest Fish’, along with many other categories, with gifts of free hats, T-shirts, and a children’s grand prize of a bicycle. Not only that, DLRABA members sell raffle tickets to award several amazing donated items. These items are displayed near the registration table. 100% of the proceeds benefit the Detroit Fireworks display in July.
RULES OF THE DERBY: Bring your ticket/confirmation to the Registration area and you will receive a punch card. When you are finished fishing for the day, take your catch for the day to City Hall, Kane’s Marina or Detroit Lake Marina to be clipped. The marinas also sponsor catch and release. Your card will be punched and you receive a raffle ticket for each fish up to 5 tickets. Bring the card back each day, catch more fish, turn them in, get your card punched and receive more raffle tickets (up to 5 per day). The maximum number of raffle tickets per card is 15.
